In line detonation flame arrestor
Model GZ-II is designed to prevent conflagrations and detonations. It absorbs and dispels heat at a maximum level, reduces fire temperature and the oxygen level to stop the fire through layers of metal ribbons shaped with crimped corrugations. The detonation arrestor is intended to withstand higher pressures and continuous flame than the deflagration flame arrestor.

Summarize
The medium pass through triangle narrow channel, arrester also pass it prevent flame spread in the pipeline, the principle called "wall effect", mean flame and wall knocking become energy transformation, reduce the temperature. By using this principle design triangle hole's height to prevent flame pass. And the enough flow passage dimension can absorbed flame's heat, make it extinguish in the core, avoid gas will burning again in another side under the core.
